  • Undergo a criminal background check, including fingerprint submission
  • Register with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee

Responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician Program

Pharmacy Technician Program​ play a vital role in both clinical and administrative tasks. Their key responsibilities include:

Clinical Duties

  • Prepare and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision

  • Compound medications, including creams, ointments, and sterile IV preparations

  • Measure, mix, and label medications accurately

  • Assist with medication therapy management and reconciliation

  • Support pharmacists during patient assessments and consultations

  • Follow aseptic techniques and maintain sterile environments in compounding areas

Administrative Duties

  • Enter and update patient and prescription data in pharmacy software

  • Process insurance claims and resolve billing or reimbursement issues

  • Manage inventory by tracking, restocking, and checking expiration dates

  • Maintain accurate prescription and patient records for compliance

  • Assist patients with prescription pick-up, questions, and front-desk inquiries
